Underwriters Laboratories Drink Coca Cola Round Neon Sign Sold for $2,949. on June 17, 2015. Description by:ozobust – Incredible find at Grandparents storage. They had owned a grocery store in San Bernadino in the 1930’s and brought this piece with them after selling the store in the 1950’s.This piece was given to them by a Coca Cola vendor, when they first opened their store.
The piece is in very nice condition, with a few minor flaws. The neon light is a yellow/green and works perfect. The back plate is missing and it seems there is a wheel inside that may have turned to make the light flicker. The piece measures 12″ in diameter.
The colors are bright with a red background, the Coca Cola letters are white and the word DRINK is in yellow lettering. The circular band around perimeter looks like a foil. It has a base to stand on a counter and eye hooks that will allow it to be hung. Original maker stickers are still intact. In 2010, we took it to the ANTIQUE ROADSHOW for appraisal. At that time, we were informed it was from the late 30’s to early 40’s and valued at $2500-$3000.
