    Description: The acme of this revered type and a most delicate feast for the senses, elegantly potted with smooth rounded sides barely flaring at the rim, finely painted in muted washes of cobalt-blue accented with sharp outlines of a deeper hue, the exterior with a musk-mallow scroll undulating gently around the sides issuing four luscious blooms with tender flaring petals, interspersed with star-shaped leaves, their edges characteristically serrated, each bloom with a leaf daintily tucked and partially concealed behind, the meander of alternating flowers and leaves unpredictably syncopated with the sudden burst of a bud and its two leaves, as though permeated with life, all between double lines at the rim and foot, the interior with a central medallion enclosing a single stylised flower head within a double circle, encircled by a musk-mallow meander similar to that on the exterior barring some refined mutation, all beneath a double-line border, the body thinly veiled in a most sensual unctuous glaze. 14.5 cm, 5 7/8  in.

    #3. Fine and Magnificent Celadon-Glazed ‘Longevity’ Ruyi-Handled Vase Seal Mark And Period Of Qianlong Sold for $11,426,742.
    Description: Superbly potted with a compressed spherical body widening to a broad shoulder sweeping up to a tall slightly flaring cylindrical neck, flanked by a pair of ruyi handles, each handle terminating in an upturned ruyi head, all supported on a tall flared foot, the body divided by four fillets into three slightly concave horizontal registers, each register containing a row of different shou (longevity) characters, each written in seal script in slip and numbering one hundred in total, the shoulder carved with a collar of floral lappets and trefoils set between a key-fret band and ruyi heads, the neck carved on two sides and applied with a pair of confronting fish centred on a wan character suspended from the mouth of a bat above and a band of upright plantain leaves at the base of the neck, all below a wan-key-fret band and a floret diaper band around the mouth, the flared foot skirted by plantain leaves and further lappets, key-fret and ruyi heads, all beneath an even unctuous bright celadon green glaze thinning to white on the raised areas and pooling in recesses, the base carved with a six-character mark in relief within a recessed square. 42.7 cm., 16 3/4  in.

    #4. Exceedingly Rare and Fine Cobalt-Blue And Iron-Red ‘Mythical Beasts’ Stemcup Mark and Period of Xuande Sold for $10,270,375.
    Description: Finely potted with deep rounded sides rising to an everted rim, supported on a tall splayed stem with a sealed flat base, superbly painted around the exterior in deep shades of underglaze blue accented with ‘heaping and piling’, the cup with nine fabulous animals against an iron-red ground of turbulent waves, including a fish dragon and a winged carp leaping above the frothing crests, a bee-like insect staring with globular eyes, four galloping quadrupeds with flaming haunches including a qilin, a deer, a dragon-headed horse longma and a ram, together with a winged elephant and rat, all between double line borders encircling the rim and waist, the stem similarly decorated with three further animals above iron-red waves comprising the leaping winged carp, the bee-like insect and a squirrel nestled in a conch, above five pointed jagged rocks evenly spread around the foot, the interior of the cup left white and inscribed in underglaze blue with a six-character reign mark within double circles repeated at the rim, the base unglazed revealing the smooth white biscuit.  9.9 cm., 3 7/8  in.

    Description: Elegantly potted with a tapered ovoid body sweeping up to a waisted neck and everted rim, rising from a band of slender petal lappets moulded in low relief around the foot, the rounded sides freely painted in inky tones of cobalt accented by simulated ‘heaping and piling’, depicting six detached sprays of camellia, peach, crab apple, melon, tree peony and pomegranate wreathed in their corresponding leaves and attached to a small gnarled stalk, below a band of scrolling lotus suspending pendent trefoils at the shoulder and overlapping striated stiff-leaves collaring the neck, all divided by double line borders below a single fillet at the rim, the moulded petal lappets enclosing a pendent trefoil motif, the base inscribed in underglaze blue with a six-character reign mark within double circles. 42.3 cm., 16 5/8  in.
