Value Grade 3 $7,500.  Value Grade 5 $12,500.  Value Grade 7 $25,000. Value Grade $9 $40,000.  Value Grade 10 $75,000 Description by nwflaplatest: This is a completely original Lincoln Mercury automobile, double sided porcelain sign- absolutely NO restoration work has been done at all. The sign no longer has the neon lighting (though i wonder if it ever did)- and did not have it when I acquired the sign 15 or so years ago. Though I can not give a definitive history on the sign, I can tell you what I was told when I acquired it. I was told that this sign was used at the Lincoln Mercury Dealership in Marianna, Florida (about an hour west of Tallahassee, Florida) from the 1930’s-1948, when the dealership closed. The sign remained in place until the mid 1950’s when it was taken down and put in a mechanic shop in Malone, Florida that closed in the 1990’s. I found the sign in the late 90’s when I was searching for old license plates in the shop- and bought the sign the day I saw it. It has since been in my shop back in Marianna Florida.

This sign is absolutely radiant. The porcelain has an incredible, deep gloss that can be easily observed in several of the pictures. When taking photos, one side of the sign was well lit in the sun, and the other was in the shade. The shaded side is equally as brilliant and glossy as the sun-lit side, and I will be glad to provide any more pictures at a potential buyers request.

The sign does have some minor dings- I have done my best to document most of them in the photos. The original transformer is also contained within the sign.

The last picture I have included in this auction is of a nearly identical (but admittedly nicer) sign that sold recently for $60,500. As you can see, the other sign has a piece attached that my sign does not- it is a blue porcelain head that sits over the “M” in Mercury. When I purchased this sign I did not realize that piece was missing, and have since went back and searched for the missing piece, but to no avail. Due to this missing piece, and the few chips on my sign, I am asking CONSIDERABLY less than what the other sign sold for.
