From USAF officers estate. This officer worked with the Mercury and Gemini space projects and the early astronauts in the 1960s 5″ Blade Early “RANDALL MADE Orlando Florida” Model 17 ASTRO Knife w/ Rough Back Sheath & Gray Stone.

The knife has “Randall Made Orlando Florida” engraved, it is unique to this knife text on the blade ~ my reading & input I have received from Randall collectors tells me that the blade is a Solingen blade.

This knife is one of twenty that Randall supplied to NASA in the early 1960’s for the Mercury Program. The grip is fine weave brown micarta [with a cavity hollowed out on the inside]. The sheath has a ‘lift the dot’ fastener on the security strap and has the older brown “Randall Made” brown snap on the stone flap. Its’ hilt is made out of heavy stainless steel 3.5″ wide. The knife has the USAF officer owners last name on one side of the micarta grip & on the back of the sheath in marker. The knife has been used as you see, so its very interesting and one of the rarest of all Randall knifes.
