Description by eBay Seller Willodale20120 (we posted this description on 2/03/2013)

It’s a square metal lunchbox from the late 1930s or early 1940s featuring the characters from the movie Pinocchio.  Disney also produced a round Pinocchio lunchbox which appears to be more common than this square version.  This lunchbox carries the W.D.P. (Walt Disney Productions) copyright rather than the W.D.E. (Walt Disney Enterprises) copyright.  This lunchbox is about 7-3/4″ long, 5-1/4″ wide, and 4″ tall.  It’s made of tin and has two movable carrying handles.  Pinocchio is pictured on the lid, and other characters from the movie (including Jiminy Cricket and Figaro) are pictured on the sides.  This lunchbox even includes the metal tray which fits on the inside of the box just under the lid.  There’s some tarnish on the inside and the bottom of the lunchbox, and there are a couple of small dents on the lid.  The only scuff mark is on the side of the lunchbox just below the donkey’s ear (Photo #5).  Also, someone has touched up the lunchbox and the lid with red paint; it doesn’t appear that any of the characters have been touched up — only the red background has been filled in in many spots.
