The Seller chazbev described the item as: “Philosophiae naturalis principia mathematica, by sir isaac newton. Third edition illustrated, published by william & john innys, london, 1726. This book measures 8-3/8″ wide x 9-3/4″ high x 1-1/2″ thick, with half-title page, frontispiece, title-page, royal license (2pp), halley’s comments (2pp), 1st – 2nd – 3rd edition prefaces (22pp), index (2pp), 530pp of text, alphabetical index (6pp), adverts (2pp). 19th century 3/4-leather binding over marbled boards with marbled endpapers, with raised bands, gilt title and decoration on the spine. The condition of this book is very good plus. The principia is widely regarded as one of the most important scientific works ever written. You can own one of the few remaining copies that was printed during newton’s lifetime, he died a few years after this printing.”
Definitely a very nice Book that brought a lot of attention and a great price.
