  • Cowardly Lion from Wizard of Oz - Fetches $700,000

    Print Friendly

Everyone remembers the Cowardly Lion from the Wizard of Oz movie. Well apparently some people were so in love with this children’s fairy tail that they decided to shill out $700,000 so they can own the Cowardly Lion Suit that was used in the actual movie. The sale took place in December of 2006.

The Wizard of Oz Movie was actually a children’s novel that was written by Lyman Frank Baum in the year 1900. The original name of the book was The Wonderful Wizard of Oz but today its referred to as The Wizard of Oz.
The movie eventually made it to t.v in 1939 for the first time. The Cowardly Lion was supposed to be the brave one in the movie but was actually the opposite as he lacked courage and was basically a coward (no pun intended). Many viewers loved the role of the Cowardly Lion and some even consider him to be the main character.

Note: The Cowardly the Lion Suit was consigned to Profiles in History Auction Firm again in 2011. The outfit went to auction on December 16, 2011. That same day a pair of The Ruby Red Slippers that were used in the same Wizard of Ozz Movie were also being offered at auction but also failed to meet the $2 million reserve.
