You are bidding on a huge lockheed factory model super constellation travel agency airplane model made out of aircraft sheet metal with machined or cast engines and landing gear, plastic prop discs and wooden tires with its original metal stand! The display model is in eastern airlines l-1049 livery, and is a wonderful example from the golden age of propeller aircraft. Eastern started operating the connie in 1951, so i would guess this model was manufactured around then as a promotional item.
As you can see, the airplane is in excellent original condition. It does have a few minor faults, but it has never been tampered with and is a gorgeous example of aviation history.
All four engines have their original plastic spinners and this whole model looks absolutely complete. The model has some wear from age, but very minor. The paint and decals have just minimal wear, and the eastern silver falcon logo’s are all very, very nice, and the cockpit looks fantastic!
The wingspan is about 44 inches, which makes the scale 1/36. This rare and beautiful desk model was made in the usa at the lockheed factory and is made from the same sheet metal that the actual airplanes were made from!
These lockheed factory models are rare and came in two sizes and with and without landing gear. This example is the larger version, and has the landing gear, so it is even rarer still! And, to top it off, eastern is one of the most popular airlines ever, so this model has huge appeal.
