Up for auction is a massive set of ww2 japanese trench binoculars. Every thing appears to work the way it is supposed to. The scope is adjustable for wide and narrow set eyes. The fine tuning knobs slowly move the scope up and down and left and right allowing the spotter to track moving objects. The lenses seem clear to me but i am no expert. The sight picture through the scope is much better than shown in this auction. I just put our 10 year old digital camera up to the eyepiece and took the picture. Please note as i am not claiming to be an expert on optics they may need to be cleaned. I am just saying they look great and seem clear for 70 plus year old optics. Please note the house on the hill with the antenna is about 7-10 miles awayand the black rings in the pics of the house are not visible when looking through it its just the way the camera took the pic. You can bid worry free if you are not happy with this item for any reason you can send it back for a full refund less return shipping. Scope has some scratches in the paint but not many. These look like usage and storage scratches. Scope and storage box have matching serial numbers the tripods serial number is off by 17 pretty close for a ww2 vet and 70 years. Storage box is unique. The brackets that hold scope are spring mounted. Brackets are lined with leather to keep from scratching scope. Most leather is still there but at least one came off but is in the box. There is an anti glare attachment that will fit over either lenses depending on if the sun is on the right or left. Also in the storage box is the top adjustables for the tripod. Box is in good condition with some dings and scratches from use. There are three hinges on the box one is still intact, one has been field repaired(probably stronger than the unbroken one) and one is broken. Rope in rope handles is still strong and usable. The tripod appears to be strong and in good condition. A few of the metal parts could use some oil or grafite but ill leave that up to buyer.
