This is an incredibly rare 1900’s German tin toy made by Staudt (or possibly Gunthermann or Bing). It represents a circus act from the early 1900’s where the main figure is lying on a table while balancing two small figures. The toy measures an impressive 10 inches tall by 13 inches wide. This is a balancing toy where you spin the top portion by hand and the balance is maintained and the top twirls on his feet – quite a remarkable action!!!   This wonderfully charnming toy is shown in an original 1907 Staudt catalog on page 3003 of the Book “Die Anderen Nurnberger – Band 7” (see last 2 pictures for reference – the book is not included in the sale but I will include a photocopy of the page for the winner of the auction). The colors and level of detailed hand painting on this toy make it one of the highest quality hand painted toys I have ever seen. I have enjoyed this toy in my collection for many years and have never seen another. This is a wonderful piece and a masterpiece for any early hand painted tin toy collection.
