Antique polly heckewelder doll cloth moravian doll made in the 1930’s Her face was painted by marian rau she has a beautiful face with highlighted hair She is from a bethlehem estate sale all of the moravian dolls that i have listed are from this estate and they are all in very nice condition This doll is a rare find she is wearing her original dress with diminty apron 2 bonnets one is a crocheted bonnet stockings and the oil cloth shoes are original too. She is wearing her original pantie and her slip is missing clothing shows age color The first doll was sold in 1872 they were and still are made by the bethlehem moravians ladies their faces were all hand painted I have a another older turn of the century polly heckewelder doll that i will be listing another time The book pictures are from the cloth dolls from ancient to modern by linda edwards page 26 and 27
The small moravian benigna doll is listed and available on my auctions and shown in the book on page 27 These are both rare hard to find dolls The doll is from a smoke and pet free home
