Here we have a 1952 Hudson Commodore 6 sedan. These were very low production, and very rare. 1952 was the last year for the Commodore series, but the 6 and 8’s were different. The 124″ W.B.,Commodore 8 cylinder car was the same as the Hornet, the engine was the only difference,BOTH senior series cars. The Commodore 6 however, was a mixture of features,a 124″w.b.,with a 262 ci,with some Wasp trim, some Super trim-last year for a Super was 1951-, several appointments from the senior Hornet/ Comm.8,grille,rocker trim, senior front parking light/turn signal housings, inside door valances from a senior car, note-,no hole cut for the crank vent windows, has push-out vents, front and rear horse collars, but has Wasp bumper guards, stainless on the ashtray edges, has courtesy lights in the door jams.Senior car front and rear brakes, rear seat pull-down armrest. As you can see,the Commodore 6 is very unique.   This car is equipped with a 262 inline 6 cylinder,a factory Hydramatic transmission, radio, heater, turn signals, outside vent and door visors, full wheel covers. The radio doesn’t work, like most.   This vehicles mechanical condition:    I have put 75 miles on this car in the last week and wouldn’t hesitate to drive it anywhere. It starts right up,upshifts and downshifts very smoothly, accelerates great, and has a good kick-down. It had the cylinder head removed when I first got the car,and upon close inspection,I found it had bad cracks in the valve seats down into # 3 and #4 cylinders. I decided to replace the engine with a good 262 from a ’53 Super Wasp.I pulled the cylinder head on this engine and decided it looked pretty good,so I replaced the head gasket-correctly-rebuilt the entire brake system, new cyl’s,hoses, shoes, steel lines, cleaned and repacked all the wheel bearings. I also pulled both rear axles, cleaned, inspected and repacked both the rear wheel bearings, and replaced both rear outer axle seals. Rebuild the entire fuel system, new fuel lines, new reconditioned fuel tank, new fuel pick-up tube and repaired the fuel gauge, rebuilt the carb.,fuel pump, and new fuel filter. All the lights work as they should,high/low beams, tail, stop and turn signals work. The reverse lights don’t work, but look good. I didn’t see anything on the suspension that was loose or worn out. You can tell that this car has been serviced regularly-[lots of grease build up around all the grease fittings]- and is probably why the suspension is in good condition. It has a new battery. The charging system has been checked and operates as it should. The exhaust is very solid with the exception of the resinator, which has a slight leak, not bad at all. I replaced the water pump, thermostat and gasket, all heater hoses and clamps, the Ranco valve, and the radiator. The Wide white wall tires have almost new thread, are round, freshly balanced, but are older. All the glass is in near perfect condition, with new division bar and weatherstrip in the drivers front door and new weatherstrip in the passenger rear door glass. The belt mouldings, fenders and doors all line up nice and look great. It has most of its original green paint, has a few dents here and there,a few very small rust thru holes showing,BUT,is very presentable as you can see, looks great! this car has great patina and would be hard to duplicate. Its original interior is in very good condition for its age as you can see in the pictures. It has a very beautiful red steering wheel,no cracks and shiny. These days, this style of vintage car is very desirable. This car could be a candidate for a complete restore at some point, but I think I would drive it as it is and enjoy its total ORIGINALITY. Rare, original paint, totally functional cars don’t come along very often. I don’t think you will be disappointed in this 60 year old Hudson. This car has a clear Indiana title, and is ready to have fun in today.
