In the 1950s, Oldsmobile refined its winning strategy by providing more of everything – more power, more luxury, and more style for the American automobile buyer. In turn, Oldsmobile moved up to fourth place in sales for 1955. In large part, Oldsmobile’s remarkable success was due to its modern and stylish Holiday two- and four-door hardtop models.

The 1955 models were heavily face-lifted with new grill work, taillights and body-side chrome. Horsepower for the 324-cubic-inch Rocket V8 increased to 185 for 88s and 202 for Super 88s. At mid-year, Olds introduced the new pillarless four-door hardtop body, dubbed the Holiday sedan, in both the 88 and Super 88 series. Air conditioning became an option and the 88 had full instrumentation.

This particular car comes finished in its original colors of Polar White and Turquoise which looks great. The car presents it self extremely well. No major scratches to the paint or dents to the body. The chrome and stainless appears to be almost all original. Both front and rear bumpers look great with only some minor scratches and dings. All of the steel trim around the car looks great with no major imperfections.

Inside, the car retains its original colored Turquoise / White interior. It has been reupholstered in the last few years and looks great. The carpet, padded dash and headliner are also newer and look very good. Door panels are equally as nice and are finished in the matching shades of turquoise and white. All the gauges are in good working order as well as the lights, wipers and horn.

Under the hood, the 324 Cu In V8 runs great and starts with no problems. The motor has been nicely detailed and is very clean overall and appears to be the original for the car. It is connected to the rare Hydromatic 3 speed automatic transmission that shifts as it should with no problems. The car does come with power brakes and power steering. On the road, the car drives very straight and true. No pulling to either side under braking.

The trunk looks great and has been nicely carpeted. It includes a full size spare and jack that appears to be original for the car. The mileage shows 95,103 and is said to be original for the car. The VIN number is 558T11536. The car is being sold on a clean Kansas title.
