Vintage Lalique mascot, hood ornament Tete de Coq or Cockerels head.
Design from 1928, post-war signed on the neck LALIQUE FRANCE
Here on auction, a very unique “tete de coq” car mascot made by the famous Lalique.
This particular mascot is a post-war example, it is slightly off-white in comperence to the new items produced by Lalique. And has its signature “LALIQUE FRANCE” pressed into the glass on the neck of the cockerel.
It stands 7” in hight
The mascot here on auction was actually mounted on a Rolls Royce motorcar in the fifty’s in the Indian province of Gondal and was driven by a member of the Royal family.
We bought it from the person that took care of the cars from the family.
He showed me pictures of the car, with this mascot on it, but I’m still waiting for copy’s.
The mascot is in a very near mint condition, has a few very very minute air bubbles in the glass, check the detailed photos for the overall condition.
It is absolutely stunning, very rare, and a opportunity to own a masterpiece of the era when cars where still called automobiles.
