    Marilyn Monroe Autographed Photograph

Autographed Color Glossy 8×10 Please read the history of this autograph – I hope it gives you complete confidence in this signature!

After having this as the centerpiece of my Hollywood autograph collection for years, I’ve decided to part with my Marilyn autograph.  I hope a serious collector who will appreciate this takes advantage of the opportunity! This picture was signed by Marilyn “To Earl”.  Earl is Earl “The Pearl” Watson, the doorman at Hollywood’s Hotel Knickerbocker, where he was known as the “Doorman to the Stars”.  The Knickerbocker was one of Marilyn’s favorite hotels, and was even where she spent her honeymoon after marrying Joe DiMaggio.  She signed this picture to Earl during one of her stays.  Included with the photo is a letter from Earl explaining his position at the Knickerbocker and verifying that this signed photo is from his collection.

Read the Earl book from pages 11-12, where he discusses joe DiMaggio and MarilynMonroe! Earl sold this picture to a collector in Greensboro, NC who had one of the most extensive Marilyn memorabilia collections in the country.  This collector had thousands of Marilyn memorabilia pieces, a collection that was valued at many thousands of dollars.  Yet, he only ever added four Marilyn autographs to his collection because he only purchased ones he had absolute confidence in their authenticity.  When he passed away about a decade ago, I purchased two of those four autographs from his estate.

The first I sold to a Marilyn autograph expert – based on the style of her signature and the color of the pen that she signed the picture with, he was able to say he was absolutely certain it was her signature and even estimate what year she likely signed it!  The other autograph is this one, which I kept because I love the connection to Marilyn through Earl and the stories that can be imagined about their interactions – to me, this feels like a much more personal autograph than the typical signed photo.

But, as much as I love it, I’ve decided to unload my entire autograph collection, including this picture.  So, I hope there’s a Marilyn fan out there who will enjoy the backstory of this one as much as I have and want to add it to their collection.  Marilyn autographs are typically valued around $5000, but I’m starting this at the price it cost me ten years ago – an absolute steal then and now. Please email me with any questions!  Will ship for free, with insurance.
