This auction is for an AUTHENTIC TRANSFORMERS: THE MOVIE (1986) Original Production Cel & Original Unmatching Background ! There is no certificate of authenticity (COA). It comes from a personal collection where it has been taking very good care of. Animation cel’s aren’t as rare as they once were. If you know where to look, you can find them fairly easily. Even at various shows and conventions, you’re likely to come across one or two. What is rare is to find those “perfect shots”. The single shot that may have defined a particular scene. This cel is from a collection of animation cels that came out of Japan a few years ago. The lot of cels included other cels from the movie and from the tv show. Most of them were available only in Japan but a few of those have made there way to the US. I have not been able to match the cel to an exact from in the final cut of the movie. This is not unusual though as they often animated extra frames that weren’t used. In my opinion though, it is definitely production footage. I hate to part with this one as it is a key cel from a very important sequence. I would not be giving it up at all if something else hadn’t come along. This cel is in very good condition and presents some normal wear/fading which is typical for artwork like this that is almost 30 years old.
