Allosaurus and Stegosaurus in Battle 155 Million Years Ago

Two 155 million year old dinosaurs sold at Heritage Auction Galleries for a price of $2,748,000 on June 11, 2011. The two dinosaurs were discovered near the foothills of Big Horn Mountain in Ten Sleep Wyoming in the spring of 2007.

Allosauraus the first dinosaur recovered from the site was said to be nearly in tact. Upon discovery of the first dinosaur they discovered a different leg bone beneath the Allosaurus skull. Below the 155 million year old rock laid a separate dinosaur known as a Stegosaurus.

Rumors are that the two dinosaurs got stuck in mud and died in combat, though its really difficult to prove that theory, but yet a very great story to add to the discovery.

The humerus of the Stegosaurus was found very close to the inside of the mouth of the Allosaurus, this further supports the theory that both creatures were in a battle.

The first discovered dinosaur the Allosaurus also known as Dracula is 21 feet in length, about 70 – 75 original bone. The Allosaurus was named Dracula due to its bristling mouthful of deadly teeth. The skeleton was mounted in an attack position and the mount was designed to allow replacement of newly discovered bones.

Stegosaurus "Fantasia" - 155 Million Years Old

The second discovered dinosaur is a Stegosaurus which was named “Fantasia.” Fantasia measures 18 feet in length and stands 8 feet tall. Fantasia is said to be about 75 -80% complete in bones. Fantasia is also mounted in an appropriate position so additional bones that are discovered in the future can also be added to it later.

The auction was for the 2 dinosaurs Allosaurus and Stegosaurus. A lot of research data is included in the auction. The final realized price for both creatures was a staggering $2,748,000.
