White Jade Snuff
Extremely fine Chinese white jade snuff bottle, this is the 3rd bottle of a group of 10, the second grouping from of a small local collection of Chinese snuff bottles in Jade, Porcelain, Quartz, Glass and Lacquer that I am selling here on eBay a few at a time. I believe this bottle is 18th or 19th century, the collection was assembled in the mid 20th century, but the best bottles are from a much older collection.
This pale greenish white jade bottle is very well hollowed, beautifully carved. In perfect condition it shows a traveler and attendant in a landscape carved in high relief on one side; a short poem and signature plaque in low relief on the other. This is the finest quality jade snuff I have ever owned. There is no top, but an elongated bone spoon accompanies it. There is a rectangular molded rosewood stand.
