This binocular was developed by C.P. Goerz between 1920 and 1930. It was the first ultra-wide German binocular for air surveillance. It was dedicated strictly to air surveillance with a very steep inclined angle of 90°.

It has a 7° field of view.

It has very large 36 mm diameter eyepieces providing excellent eye-relief.

    10 power magnification.

    80mm objective lens.

Complicated construction. The right hand prism is larger than the left one. Inter-ocular adjustment is achieved by turning a knurled knob on the right hand side of the binocular. The ocular travels twice the distance of the prism by sophisticated gearing typical of Goerz engineering. This is working very well.

This binocular provides an exceptional wide-angle view that is very clear bright and collimated.

There is a circular ranging reticule on the right side.

    Focusing is very smooth.

The elevation works easily and can be locked at any angle.

The binocular spins freely on the tripod. It can be locked in any position.

It comes with two amber eye filters which can be easily removed.

Flip-down headrest still works as it should.

Rubber is showing signs of age and use.

Original green paint is peeling in some areas. There are no dents or serious scratches.

No visible scratches on eye lens or objective lens.

    No visible chips on prisms.

Prisms are showing some age-related haziness but are still providing an almost crystal clear view.

    All controls work smoothly.

It is amazingly easy to spot and track planes with this binocular.

The Swiss made military tripod has some paint loss and is showing signs of age and use. It is rugged, sturdy and lightweight.
