Vintage Bear Auto Repair Porcelain Enameled Hanging Sign Double-Sided !!!   Okay, Here We Go !!! Calling All Serious Collectors !!!  This is an Iconic Advertising Sign that will make you the “Talk of the Town”. Produced by the Burdick Enamel Sign Co. (1895-1950) This wonderful , Colorful, Inviting, Cartoon-Like Bear, will make a  proud addition to any collection. Perhaps , even a Centerpiece ! This old Bear has been “Hanging Around ” inside of a Garage in Upstate New York for the last 25 years. It seems to be 100% Original and has not undergone Any restoration. The porcelain finish is heavy, still very bright and vibant (see photo of coin ). There are several chips, and some porcelain loss primarily at the feet, (see photos ),but overall , a Very Nice Presentable example of a the  kind of work the Burdick Enamel Sign Co. could perform right here in the Good Ole’ USA ! There are folded sections of tin that are fitted between the two reverse designed signs. These tin “spacers” show considerable age and some rust.

The very bottom of the sign has a section of “tin spacer”  that  has been removed so we could show a photo of the “inside” of the sign assembly. Both back sides of the 2 reverse signs seem to be galvanized  and in very nice condition .  We had a custom made section of galvanized steel made for replacing the “spacer” that has been removed.  I will include it in the sale. It is about 15″ long and 6″  wide with a 1″ tab on both sides .  There are 37 separate brass machine screws and nuts that are used to hold each sign to the 6″ wide “spacer” that separates both reverse sign “halves”. There is a total of 74 of these brass screws and nuts. They are all still intact and seem to be original. I am NOT sure  what the exact production date of this sign is. I recently found an old photo of an old repair shop with a similar sign in the photo (last picture). Looks pretty old. You experts out there could make a better guess than I could. I would say the sign weighs about 70 lbs. The overall height of the Bear only is 65″.With the hangers added, it is just under 6 feet high. The width is 44″. I may consider making   a custom crate for shipping to the winning bidder. If so, the fees must be arranged Before the auction ends.
