Description by seller: “Danish filmmaker Benjamin Christensen’s haunting study about superstition fueled irrational conclusions regarding disease and mental illness that ultimately lead to witch hunts, is a masterpiece of silent horror. Upon obtaining a copy of Malleus Maleficarum, a 15th century treatise about the prosecution of witches, Christensen would spend years studying manuals and illustrations regarding witchcraft. The result of which would be the most expensive Scandinavian silent film ever produced”.
