Up for auction is a great antique oak ice box / beer cooler. This piece originally came from an old country store in New England. Below are some of the details
88 inches wide
77 inches tall
32 inches deep (if handles are removed 31”)
estimated weight 500-800 lbs
7 total doors (2 large , 5 small) ( large center door has mirror)
10 wood adjustable racks
tin bottom interior shelf / lining
I was told this piece was removed for renovations to the building. When they removed it they simply cut the wiring and disconnected any plumbing / piping. There is a Fedders cooling unit hanging in the top right compartment with the wiring going through the top. I do not know if the cooling unit works or not. In my opinion piece would need slight restoration with new wiring and piping and possibly a new cooling unit.
This old ice box appears to be all original and to have its original finish. Good old patina and heavy crackling to the finish The doors are all double paned glass except for the mirrored door and all are in nice condition with no detection of chips or cracks. The piece is in overall nice condition. There are your expected chips, scratches, stains etc.. to the wood on the piece. There is a small quarter size chip on the wood on the top right front corner of the piece. The piece is solid and structurally sound. A few of the bottom boards might need replacing as they show some signs of age. The two hinges on the mirrored door are cracked but are still in working order. All other hinges appear to be in good shape.
A great piece with a lot of charm and character. Pictures should help tell the story. Item is sold as is and as found. The piece is currently stored 5 minutes from downtown Providence, RI. This is a pick-up only auction. Buyer is responsible for all shipping arrangements. Storage location has both a loading dock and a walk out overhead door.
