The 1963 G.I. Joe Prototype sold for $200,000. in a private sale in 2005. It was purchased by Steven Geppi after it failed to sell at a heritage auction for a $250,000. reserve. Originally the opening reserve was set at $600,000. but after no activity the reserve was drastically reduced to $250,000. This is when Steven Geppi decided to buy it from Don Levine. Levine is a former Hasbro executive who was involved in the production of 1963 G.I. Joe Prototype originally. Geppy is a private Comic Book distributor.
