Description: “Collectible, Fresh from a VERY OLD and OUTSTANDING MAINE COLLECTION, we are pleased to offer this rare example of the “AMERICAN IMPROVED PRESERVE CAN” which reads on its reverse “EARLE’S PATENT  FEB 2d 1864”. The aqua colored fruit jar (RB74) is in the ONE QUART size. Its lid (which is likely a period replacement as it fits flush at the rim) it is CLEAR and is embossed “EARLE’S PATENT FEB 2d 1864 & MARCH 21ST 1865”. The jar has its original closure and STRONG MOLD definition. CONDITION: Other than likely lid replacement the jar is SUPERB throughou”.
