A beautiful 1955 300Sl Mercedes Benz Gullwing made out of aluminum alloy sold for an astonishing $6.2 million at a Scottsdale Auction that was conducted in Texas in the first week of February 2012.
Mercedes manufactured approximately 1,400 1955-1957 Mercedes Ben’s from the 300Sl Model. However, it produced an even smaller number in aluminum alloy. Within those three years Mercedes only made 29 from the aluminum alloy. The original estimate was that the car would bring in about $2.5 million but in the end it surprised everyone with a record breaking price for a Mercedes when it fetched $6.2 million.
