Referred to as the worlds most valuable automobile, the 1936 Bugatti 57SC holds the record price ever paid for any car in existence. According reports, the car sold in excess of $30 million dollars, but the exact amount has not been revealed.
The 1936 Bugatti was sold on April of 2010 in a private transaction brokered by Gooding & Company from California. The car belonged to Dr. Peter Williamson who died in 2008. After his death, the car was eventually sold as part of his estate.
Mullin Automotive Museum located in Oxnard, California purchased the car. For years, the Museum had its attention geared toward acquiring the car but was unsuccessful. The sale apparently took time to broker since both parties preferred the sale remained private until it was finalized.
However, once the car sold the reported price was in excess of $30 million, making it the worlds most valuable car.
