First in 1964 the Chevrolet Impala came in different options. There was a 1964 Impala two door hardtop roof, a two door hardtop roof, and the Super Sport versions. The two door Convertibles and the four door station wagons. They came with a 119 inch car wheel base chassis and a 209.9 inch length. The four door station wagons were just a bit longer in length, measuring 210.8 inches long. This is the first year in which Impala’s introduced the Super Sport version as as a separate model. Today, its very helpful in identifying the first Super Sport models by reading the car serial numbers. The 1964 Super Sport six cylinder Impala has the number 13 in the VIN identification number. The 1964 Impala 8 cylinder Super Sports have the number 14 in the auto VIN identification number.
