    Johanna Alexandra “Lotte” Jacobi (1896-1990) was a German Portrait Photographer who immigrated to America to escape Nazi Germany. Her time in America was spent photographing many historically important people, including Albert Einstein. Jacobi was known for her candid photographs of world-famous people, such as Albert Einstein. Jacobi took many photographs of this German Physicist all of which captured him in a very private moments, which allowed the viewer to feel as if they can identify him.

    The 7“ by 5/8“ black & white glossy photograph in this auction depicts Albert Einstein in a private moment, deep in thought. He is dressed in a leather jacket, buttoned all the way up to his neck and is sporting his signature messy hairstyle. You can just see some numbers and symbols on the note pad in front of him. This photographs authenticity is guaranteed for life to be an original Lotte Jacobi Photograph, from the original negative. On the reverse side of this photograph is a pencil inscription, by Lotte Jacobi. This pencil inscription states that the photograph should be returned to her Studio and is signed by the Photographer.
