    This Chippendale carved table was originally estimated to bring in $700,00 – $900,000 but realized $2,210,500.00 at Christie’s Auction house on January 25, 2013.

    Item Description

    Sold at auction was a Chippendale Mohagony Carved Table by Jonathan Townsend
    The table is traced to the Ship of Johnathan Townsend from Newport, with a date of 1767.
    The table has the inscriptions John Townsend in graphite underneath the table. The brasses appear to be original with the exception of the lower  foot brackets.
