On September 2011 the Schmidt Museum held a Coca Cola collectibles auction in Kentucky. In the auction they offered a 1920’s – 13 inch lead glass Coca Cola Lamp in pristine condition. Collectors from around the world traveled and attended this spectacular event as The Schmidt Museum has some of the worlds most rare and desirable Coke collectibles.

The featured item was the 1920’s lamp which was created out of a plethora of meticulously cut glass and turned into a lighting mosaic. The lamp was originally estimated to sell for approximately $30,000 but in the end it sold for $161,000 including the 15% buyers premium.

This is one of three different Coke collectibles that sold for over $100,000 proving that the Coca Cola collectibles market is as vibrant as ever. The total of the sale fetched over $3.3 million.

The Schmidt Family has produced Coke bottles for over 100 years. At the same time they were collectors of Coke items and have an inventory of over 80,000 Coca Cola collectibles. The Schmidts’ announced that they will close their museum and all of its collection will be sold. In 2012 they will conduct another great auction and will be donating the proceeds of the sale to a charitable donation.
