    Auction Description by Vic-b:
ZONOPHONE Glass Sided Model-“A” Phonograph! The motor plays strong and quiet. The case is original. The finish is original. The motor board, motor, travel arm, travel arm support bracket, turn table and felt are original! Most importantly the Concert-V reproducer is original! The crank is a quality Bill Kocher reproduction. The wire horn cradle is reproduction, which is common. The Concrt-V reproducer would have been considered an upgrade for this machine. If you have the earlier closed face reproducer, that would be correct. This machine is actually desirable because it is early. The travel arm support comes off the machine closer to the center of the motor board, which was found in machines made in 1900-1901. The original all brass horn is excellent. The nickle is 85%+ on this machine, which is above average.

    About the Phonograph
Emile Berliner and partner Frank Seaman founded the Zonophone brand in 1898 naming it the UTMC for Universal Talking Machine Company.

They also started another larger company by the mane of National Gramophone Corporation in 1899. They combined both companies together making the first one a division of the second.

The Zonophone patents were licensed on April 6, 1900 by the authority of the American Graphophone Company Columbia.

sometime in September 1903 the Victor Talking Machine purchased the Zonophone Company from Frank Seaman for $135,000. Some believe that this change in ownership is what caused the Zonophone Phonographs to be unpopular.
