    A lot of 55 Wine Bottles labeled DRC Romanee Conti sold for a record price of $813,000. at an auction on December 13, 2011.

    This also broke the record for 2011 as the highest price realized for any wine lot sold at any auction. Additionally, it also broke the record price for any Romancee Conti lot of wines ever at auction.

    That’s a price of $15,145 for each single bottle. The auction was held in Hong Kong and the auctioneer was Acker Merall & Condit. The auction lasted 2 days and strong bidding took place for most wine bottles throughout the auction.

    Some feel that the market for wine in the U.S. has declined and feel that stronger prices are being realized in Hong Kong. To add credence to this statement the Acker Meraal & Condit Companies indicated that they also sold a record amount in dollars in 2011. In total, they sold over $100 million worth of wine in the year 2011 alone.

    Other highlights from the auction were a lot of 1867 labeled from Chateau Mouton which sold for $500,000 dollars. Another highlight was a lot of 57 wine bottles with a label from Chateau Petrus which fetched $250,000.
