    The Worlds largest coin sold for 4.02 million dollars. The coin has a legal tender value of $1,000,000 struck under the authority of the Royal Canadian Mint.

    The coin is one of only five produced and weighs 22.5 pounds (100 kg). Its measurements are 53 cm (21 inches) in diameter and 3 cm thick. It is dated 2007 and is made of 99.99 pure gold. The 2007 Canadian Maple Leaf $1,00,000 coin made it in the Guinness Book of World Records as the largest gold coin ever struck by any official Mint.

    The coin was auctioned by an order made by the administrator of an Austrian AvW invest after its owner and chief executive were arrested on suspicion of fraud, breach of trust and other associated charges.

    AvW originally acquired the coin in 2007, they were the owners of one of only five coins in existence of which Queen Elizabeth also owned an example.

    The coin sold at auction in June 2010 for 4.2 million dollars after the original owner from an Austrian Investment went bankrupt. The new owner is a ORO Direct a gold metal trading trading company in Madrid.

    ORO submitted a written bid for the coin with no other bids being placed for the coin. At the time the coin sold Gold spot price was at approximately $1250 an ounce.
