  • 1933 Saint Gaudens on Trial July 7, 2011

    On July 7, 2011 the Philadelphia Federal Court will begin hearings on the fate of the 10 different 1933 Saint Gaudens Double Eagles that were handed to the United States Mint on September 2004.

    The 10 coins had been handed to the Mint for authentication by Joan Langbord the daughter of Israel Switt, a former coin dealer from Philadelphia.

    The trial is expected to last about 14 days. This case has been in litigation for approximately 5 years and in two weeks a verdict shall be reached and the faith of the 10 1933 Saint Gaudens Double Eagles should be known.
