Description by seller: “This index machine was patented in April 1947 by Genaro Calatayud (a pharmacist) in Calpe, Alicante (Spain) and was produced by Matías Pastor Ivars in a family workshop along the following ten years. The idea was producing a simple and affordable typewriter for domestic use, or small business, hence the name HOGAR (home). The way the machine is designed resembles previous index machines as the New American or Sun Index. It was manufactured out of humble materials and the types were bought at a printing shop in Barcelona”.
