  • 1830 Tiny Bronte Manuscript Sells for Record $1,070,000 Million

    On December 15, 2011 an 1830 manuscript authored by Charlotee Bronte broke a record price when it sold for approximately 700,000 pounds or $1,070,000. million U.S. Dollars.

    The manuscript was sold by Sotheby’s Auction House in London. Several bidders were highly interested in this piece including numerous large museums. The book was titled “Young Mens Magazine # 2. It was also the first time that this specific book ever appeared at an auction. It was written by Charlotee when she was about 15 years old.

    It has about 20 pages with about 4,100 words and measures an approximate 1.5 by 2.5 inches (see image on top right). The winning bidder was The Musee Des Lettres et Manuscrits Museum which intends to showcase the manuscript sometime in January 2012.

    The manuscript is one of a six story series of which only 5 have surfaced while one of this six still remains missing. With it realizing $1,070,000. million U.S. Dollars this makes it a new record price paid for a manuscript written by the Bronte sisters.

    This specific book is significant because it contains three different stories in it that were all handwritten by one of the sisters and still remain in tact in this very tiny manuscript.
